J. E. Caldwell Diamond & Pearl Collar

J. E. Caldwell Diamond & Pearl Collar

If ever there was a statement necklace, this is it. Diamond-studded lances, buttercups and creamy pearls float on slender gold bands in this exquisite hand-fabricated collar, evoking a warrior princess. Created by the venerable American jeweler J. E. Caldwell of Philadelphia, the firm renowned for its exquisite hand-forged Art Nouveau and, later, Art Deco jewels.

Consisting of a double knife wire band of sterling silver over 18k yellow gold, the necklace is hinged into nine segments, creating six junctions to allow for a lovely fit on the neck. The collar is accented with four crescent-shaped swags studded with rosette-cut and old mine-cut diamonds, from which hang hinged lance-shaped finials. The central motif, a diamond-studded blossom pendant, supports a knife wire drop with a pear-shaped cluster of rosette and old mine diamonds.

Four half-drilled and two spherical saltwater pearls with diamond accents further embellish the collar. The back of the collar is studded with twelve half-round seed pearls, providing an elegant view from behind. The gorgeous patina—with hues of copper, gunmetal and plum tones—can be removed at the customer’s request. Marked J.E.C. & Co., #A0085, with 2-owl logo

Utterly bewitching and a wee bit decadent.
