Belle Époque Celestial Fringe Necklace

Belle Époque Celestial Fringe Necklace

Often worn with a choker, the fringe necklace was a coveted piece during the belle époque, when the emergence of the serpentine silhouette shifted attention to the décolleté. Consisting of a series of drop motifs arranged in a fringe-like formation, this resourceful style was often mounted on a metal hair ornament to double as a tiara.

Our lovely necklace consists of a trio of pearl-studded stars encircled with crescent moons. Delicate floral drops in graduating lengths hang from fine gold blades, or “knife wires” and appear to float on the collarbone. The central moon motif offers a discreet S-shaped loop on the back should you prefer to up the ante and attach a brooch. The rope gold chain culminates in a barrel clasp.

Includes the original aubergine velvet-lined black leather case.
